TC to Extension Tube

I have read through some threads on here about the possibility of making an extension tube out of a teleconverter with the optics removed. I am thinking about giving it a try, but I just have one question that I couldn't find the answer to.

How can you tell if the teleconverter will function with the lens on the "A" setting? I would like to be able to do this to make things easier on myself. From what I have picked up, I know that I am looking for the connection pins, but I am unclear as to weather I need to look for converters with 6 or 7 pins.

Thanks for the help!

Any converter with contacts will give you auto aperture, so if you see contacts or if it's labeled as such it will most likely work

See my review of the viv pka. If its 6 contacts and the mount is painted black you may need to create a contact point for the 7th data contact
