Pelican 1400 Leakage

Hello,

Has anyone had experience with a Pelican 1400 leaking? I took my Pelican 1400 tubing down a river Sunday, hit a few mild rapids, and when I got where I was going, the case was full of water. Thankfully, I did not have my camera with me.

The only thing I can think of (the O ring seems to be in good shape) is the purge valve, which I have never really understood. Is it possible for the valve to get stuck open, and is there a way to be sure it is closed? OR - has anyone disabled the purge valve?

Thanks
