The bags, like the camera itself, will probably only sell in Japan anyway. Still, they should do more for other markets IMO.

It will be available for sale worldwide, but it will only sell in Japan (like the Q lineup)

I think Adam means that only the Japanese market/buyers will buy it i.e. it will not be successful in other markets.

Maybe it will shoot and handle better than it looks, we can but hope. A lot of people didn't like the K30 either, and it turned out to be an excellent camera.

I think some Pentax products are geared to strictly Japanese tastes and so we in other parts of the world find it strange.

We in the West should remember that Japan is finally emerging from 15 years of a deflationary economic malaise, with coordinated stimulative central bank and government program activities. Socially there is an cultural euphoric optimism similar to what we in the USA experienced in the 90's. People will spend money on flashy toys in a way they haven't done in nearly a generation.

At the same time in the West we are leaning more toward a sober conservatism, a retrenchment, a time of healing from the hangover following our 15 year debt-fueled bacchanal. We would naturally view a non-traditional design with suspicion and would naturally criticize the feature mix as not optimal for our wants and needs, so therefore not a good product.

But Ricoh will probably sell plenty of these cameras and accessories, and the Q-S1 - and we shoud hope they do.

Then again, I don't expect people to agree.
