Create your cable shutter release

Hi I made my cable shutter release using this tutorial
Pentax (and others) DSLR cable shutter release from hands-free cell phone kit - PortuguÍs

I used a mentos box, thought the mentos box is the best choice because of the tamp.

I didn't used a ear phone, I prefer use a male 2,5mm jack. In Brazil we call it P1 plug.

Although it is a good exercise for the novice, when learning electronics. I would not want to carry that around in my bag. You can buy one off of eBay for as little as $3.00, with shipping. Much smaller and easier to carry around. And for about $15.50 Plus shipping, you can get one with time delay and time lapse functions.

Have a look at this For $1.99 Plus shipping,

RS 60E3 Cable Release Shutter Remote for Canon 400D Pentax K10D Samsung Camera | eBay

Have a look at this For $15.50 Plus shipping,

Timer Remote Shutter Release for Pentax K 3 K 5 K 5 II K 7 K30 K50 K110D K200D | eBay

Although I cannot attest to the quality, they do work. I have a different brand that I purchased on eBay for about $15. I have also purchased a inexpensive infrared remote, Which is very small and I keep in my bag. No wires to transmit shake to the camera. An infrared remote is available for about $10.00 .

Stay safe and have fun.

Joe.

Hi you are absolutely sure, Its cheap buy one and not necessary to made. Its more for those like self made stuf. But I really prefer the mentos box, its easier to carry because the cable stay locked inside the box.

I particularly do not like the remote control, its great for selfies but for long exposures I prefer the cable release.
