Flare !

Are there any lens filters that reduce flare? Not just from the Sun, but from any light source like car headlights and street lamps ?

Most filters will make it worse. A proper lens hood will help.

The lens used seems to make the most difference. For example try the da 12-24 and the da 15 ltd. Same shot the 12-24 will flare horribly, the 15mm won`t.

+1. Your best friend for flare suppression is the lens hood, followed closely by the old film-shooters "hat trick." Hold your hat in your off hand so the shade it casts covers the front of the lens. After all these years I still find myself unconsciously stepping into any handy patch of shade or looking for something to hold which will cast a shadow on the lens. Instead of a hat, nowadays a little 8" collapsible reflector is often the choice.

The HD coating on newer Pentax lenses does a pretty good job of eliminating flare.

I concur with AquaDome. Having both the HD DA 21 and HD DA 40 I have shot into situations that would have caused flare with any other piece of glass - not with the HD DA's though. They were well worth the additional price compared to the DA Limiteds.
