31 LTD + Filters???

Do you guys have any tips on how to add the ND filter to the 31mm lens? I have the big lee stopper as a drop in filter.

The easiest thing by far would be to use a 58mm screw-in filter.

Add a lens hood and then place the filter on that. I tried it before Xmas, but found the size was too large. Have ordered another to put a CP and ND filter on the FA31.

I think this one will be short enough not to cause vignetting, will let you know when it arrives.

That's a lot of stops (10!).

Some people have stacked a bunch of old neutral/skylight-type filters (often with the glass already punched out) to extend out toward the end of the FA31's hood. Then they can put most anything they want on it. As long as you're on APS-C you can probably avoid significant vignetting (if any at all). I don't have my FA31 anymore, so I can't be more exact about the vignetting.

But stacking multiple 58mm ND filters would probably be easier, as Adam suggests.

Another method you could try is using a 58mm to 49mm step down ring, and from there using a bunch of step up rings until you have the filter diameter size you need.

Another PF member put me on to on of the below hoods for a Pansonic FZ18. This consists of 2 pieces, bottom half is 55.4 (ish) thread to 58mm hood, the top half is a 58 to 58mm and is 15.9mm long. The top half of this is what you want to use as a spacer/hood extension.
Word of warning - probably pay to get a 58mm lens cap. The std 31 ltd hood is less secure when using this hood/extension in conjunction with a filter.
