DBG4 - AA batteries problem

I know this is an old one but.
I have 6 full charged AA batteries on my DBG4. After taking a few photos. it says "battery depleted"

after that it wont detect the AAs anymore.
any idea what was the problem?

Thanks!

Is the battery in the body sufficiently charged? It doesn't need to be full but the camera does rely on it to start up.

Battery use

Go to the battery control menu and tell the camera that you want to use the grip battery first, I have never used 3rd party battery's instead of dl190 and have never experienced the mystical rapid shutter fire on a k5 k5ll k3 k3 silver k3 prestige, just saying.

battery was set to "grip first" when it happened
forgot to mention that the battery is new. only had 5-6 cycles.

tried the batteries on other devices works perfectly fine.

is there something about DBG4s and AAs? haha!

Sorry did not get the fact you are using AA battery's, if they are recharge type watch the voltage some are not 1.5 volts but only 1.2.

Some suggestions:
- make sure your camera firmware is the latest. K-5 battery metering fixes found their way into a few K-5 firmware updates;
- use Eneloops AA's and a Eneloop battery charger for the most reliable results;
- check to see if each individual AA battery is OK. 1 or 2 bad batteries out of 6 could cripple performance;
- set the 'AA Battery Type' to the type of battery you are using in the grip (NiMh, Alkaline, Lithium), not 'Auto'.

AA battery, and power issues generally, can be hard to debug. Best of luck!
