Lenscoat is making patterns for DFA 150-450 and FA* 300 2.8

I just sent my lenses up to lenscoat for covers. they will be making patterns for both lenses. We use their Sig 120-400 cover and others. We use Dig Camo, ok for field and traveling in urbans (low key). Light color drastically cuts heat in the tropics/desert compared to naked lens. They will do white as a custom for high sun environments. Their tripod leg covers are excellent for taking a silver tripod afield, don't weigh much, kill reflection. Don't know about other products....

cool, i got a black one for my FA* 400. it's perfect. i got it to have a more stealth setup for all purpose, it can be embarrassing with an all silver shiny lens...:-) and to protect it from me...

How is the CA? On the 300FA* F2.8 its not bad. The 24 and 85 FA*s have a bit more than I like. I would expect the 400 to be very good, based on the math....

Also Have you checked back-focus? on the 300 FA*, on 2 different K-3s it was -5...

CA is heavy! its the worst lens i own... I have FA* 24, 28-70, 80-200 and a lot more but this FA* 400 is with quite some distance the worst lens regarding CA i have ever used on the K-3.
Maybe its my copy but its not only the magenta there is green and sometimes even some weird white border....

but then it can produce some outstanding pictures... its a diva and you need to treat it with respect otherwise it will not do what you want....
the problem is that i have a copy of the DA*300 and this is one of my most loved lenses and you can treat it like sh... it still does the job....

if you ask me its way overpriced on Ebay right now...

i have front focus if i remember right, i'll look it up.

What? Who makes a neoprene cover for the FA*400 f5.6? Where can I get it? I need one for mine!

it is really worth it as you dont have to worry anymore when you put it on the ground, in the bag or just handling it.
It makes a big difference and due to that i can take it with me more often.

Thanks! I gave up hope that LensCoat would ever make a cover for the FA* 400 f5.6.

I've been using Camo Form® made by McNett (mcnett.com), which is a roll of a self-adhering fabric bandage that you wrap around the lens barrel (except the focussing ring) and also around the lens hood. It's not bulky, nor does it have any glue or adhesive that adheres to the lens barrel. However, when I reverse the lens hood and place the lens into the bag, the Camo Form on the lens hood does tend to roll up as it brushes against the foam padding in the bag. It doesn't provide any cushioning like neoprene does, nor does it have a little transparent window to see the distance scale.

Thanks guys! I just ordered forest green through amazon.com (amazon.ca only has the cover for the DA 560mm).

Lenscoat did a great job 150-450 DFA and 300 FA* 2.8

Got the covers Friday. Both are exactly what I wanted. Little details like buttons, alignment indexes, working around lens designs for functionality... A+ Scott (owner of LensCoat)... We use these....

LensCoat® Pentax D FA 150-450mm f/4.5-5.6 DC AW Digital Camo

LensCoat® Pentax FA 300mm f2.8 Digital Camo

LensCoat® Sigma 120-400

LensCoat® Pentax DA* 300mm f/4 ED (IF)

LensCoat® Pentax DA 1.4x teleconverter

LensCoat® Hoodie® Large

The "Hoodie" thing is a slide on cover, I put on over lens caps on bigger lenses to cushion in transit...

The LensCoat Hoodie XX Large perfectly fits the front Lens of the FA* 300mm 2.8.
