One side of the cable is the standard USB A type plug, but what about the side that connects to the camera? What connector type is that?

All the cameras up to the K-3 use a USB micro B connector.

My mistake. Thanks for the correction. The K3 uses the USB 3 connector which incorporates the Micro-B for USB 2 compatibility.

It might but what's holding me back is it's listed as compatible with other camera brands. I could be wrong but to my understanding the pinout for the pentax cable only works on pentax cameras.

Listed for Optio but if it's an I-USB7 it should work.
