K10d 8Gb sdhc card

Has any 1 tried an 8gb card in the K10D. I asked pentax USA and got this response

"The K10D can handle HC memory cards but we can only promise it can handle up to a 4GB card. An 8GB might work but you would have to test it out to see"

A little dissapointing that they don't Know

Yep! Got one in mine now!

I have an A-Data (an OEM for some big names) in my K10D right now and it has worked flawlessly for the 3 weeks I've had it (and over 300 RAW photos). Bought it from newegg.com for $69.99, has a lifetime warranty and is a Class 6 device (the current fastest data transfer rating available for SDHC cards).

Great
I guess I will be purchasing an 8Gb instead of a 4GB, you can never have too much memory

Steve

P.S. Can't wait for the 16GB cards

i'm just the opposite.. i like to use only 1 gig cards just in case. i'll probably go to 2gig with the purchase of the k10.

When travelling independently in arid regions it's wise to have your water supplies shared amongst several containers. That way, if one leaks, or bursts, all is not lost.
The same principle applies to memory cards, computor memory and possibly many other things that I can't think of right now.

Yes, 4 2GB SD cards would be a much safer bet it most cases!

That's also the reason why one would see servers at a business running multiple hard drives (aka RAID - Redundant Array of Independent Disks). Failsafes - one can never have enough.

Steve - Adata is a very good brand. I would still suggest to opt for 2 x 4GB cards as opposed to 1 x 8GB. Timbuctoo's suggestion would be what I'd do. You also have another advantage going this route - when one card is filled up, you can shoot with the others while the filled card is transferring your photos to your pc. You won't miss any action.
