What kind of replacement battery?

Hey guys,

I've recently bought a K10D and have been reading these forums without posting to glean some of the expertise that's available here. I love this place.

So I'm looking to buy a second battery. I can't afford the retail price (it's selling for $100 tax inc. here in quebec) so I'm looking at ebay. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any decently priced Pentax batteries, only non-oem 'compatible' ones.

My question is, are these no-name brand batteries worth it? Am I risking a leak or something worse by using these? Has anyone had any experience with them?

I don't want to put a sub-standard battery in my camera and find out a few months later that it exploded and basically destroyed my camera.

Any insight would be helpful.

Cheers,
Alex

Don't know about some of the other "off brand" ones but the Konica Minolta NP-400's are excellent. Google for them and you'll see a variety of sources ranging from around $10 to $30. I picked up a pair from B&H about 2mos ago for $10each but I believe they ran out of them.

I bought a generic type one as a backup. Usually they say NP-400 compatible, or something like that. It's so far so good.
