Need cheap sd cards?

I work at Big Lots, and tend to keep track of these things religiously when they are cheap or go on sale. Some of our stores just recently got in 16gb verbatim sd cards. We sell them for $12, same as all of our normal 16 gb's. We also just got in 32gb verbatim sd's for $20. Yes, not the huge capacity cards, or the fastest ones on the market, but if you need them cheap, we've got them. We also have 8gb cards... but who seriously buys an 8gb card for a dslr these days? The normal brands we tend to have in stock are Lexar and PNY. The verbatim cards we got are the first ones I've seen in store in the 3.5 years I've worked there.

Pro Using 4GB Cards

I've been in Costa Rica on a photo tour with a professional nature photographer. He also uses only 4GB cards, for the same reason as mentioned in the previous post.

+1 for the reasons already given, that having been said I use SanDisk Extreme and have never had one fail yet.

But I do rotate out my cards on a regular basis, I treat them as consumables, like we did with film in the old days.

I use Sandisk Extreme 16GB and when they are full I keep them as another layer of backup. I do go through them a couple of times before I switch and delete the files I know I don't want to retain.

Dual card slots was the main reason I got the K-3 - so now I use 32GB cards. I love instant backup

Have been using 16 GB cards for a while, but got a 32 GB card for my K-3 II. I'm tempted to get a 64 GB card because my K-3 II generates huge RAW files and the number of RAWs the camera can store is lower with a 32 GB card on the K-3 II than with a 16 GB card on the K-5. However, SDXC cards bring potential compatibility issues because exFAT is proprietary (at least my MobileLite Wireless portable media server can read exFAT volumes and can even handle multiple partitions).

These days, SanDisk Extreme PRO UHS-I (95 MB/s) cards are the best compromise between performance and price, with the usual SanDisk reliability, and these are the cards I mainly use in my cameras. If you need a really large amount of space, they are available in capacities up to 512 GB.
