Great question - I'm missing one for an FA* 24mm. I've toured ebay and there is the screw-on (threaded) type available, but is there something better out there?

I know it isn't the one you want but a 67mm screw in silver hood would look pretty hood on that lens.

Brand New Kenko Lens Hood Metal Hood Silver for 67mm KMH 67SV from Japan | eBay

The last one of the original hoods (the only one?) I could find for sale was in 2009 here on the forum and it was listed at $90. There is a seller in Japan on Ebay selling a haze/fog copy of the lens - maybe you could talk them into selling just the hood to you.

I do not even use the stock hood because it is too short to be adequate for APS-C. Instead I found another Pentax hood that works for that lens and uses the same bayonet connection (no screw on).
Look for PH RBK 77mm

not my pic but here is how they look together:

28-70 is a very nice lens! i use that in my daily kit. I have the original hood but its really to short. thats why i got the DA* 200/300 hood and did a little sanding and now its so much better... this lens is not strong at flare resistance... but its sometimes a nice effect and can contribute to the situation...

The FA* 24 will not work with the DA* 300 hood as far as i know but i will check if something in my collection will work...

Thank you all for your fast reply. Problem solved due to you: I placed an order at adorama.com and now I wait for my new PH-RBK 77mm lens hood to arrive.

Thanks for the link to the silver metal hood - I'll do some thinking about that option too.

Is this hood too long for full frame? I use this lens for my K-1

you would need a shorter hood, something closer in length to the stock hood for FF.
