I'm going with the Sirui K-10X, unless someone changes my mind!

If you get the K-10X, let us know how you like the tension control. I just bought the K-20X because of heavier requirements. Seems like fine tuning tension is really cool, you can set a minimum tension level with the little silver inset dial, but I have to work with it more to be sure how it works.

When you set the tension according to the instructions, the ball tightens with smoothly, gradually, in a very satisfactory way, and least for my taste. Absolutely the nicest ball head I own or have tried.

I just ordered the Sirui K-20X ballhead & the Sunwayfoto DPG 50QR plate. I upgraded the ballhead because I got a nice Rewards amount from Adorama!

My Sirui N-1004 is on it's way also!

Hope it all suits your hands and shooting style. It's really hard to know about equipment until you've used it for a month or so. Sometimes there are quirks to which you can adjust, but sometimes the quirks just get more and more annoying.

I'm sure I'll be happy with the tripod and ballhead. Will be much easier to use than the setup I have now.

Many times I wished I had my tripod, but it's heavy for me, and so rarely use it. This new setup is lighter, so I'll be able to utilize it more!

The Sirui tripod comes with a very - VERY! - nice case, but sad to say, it's really just extra bulk and weight and slows down the setup.
It also comes with a short column, although you need a tiny Allen wrench to loosen the head from the long column to transfer it the short one. I rarely get down that low for pictures any more. No trouble getting down, but I worry that getting up may require a 911 call.

In my case, getting up isn't "may require a 911 call"; rather definitely a 911 call!

I do have several sets of allen wrenches, just in case I want to live dangerously!

Just received the Sirui K20X ballhead & the Sunwayfoto DPG 50QR plate. Just opened the ballhead box up to make sure it was ok, and the correct one. It's for Christmas, so I have to wait to use it!

I bought a Vanguard Alta CA 204AT with a Vanguard GH-30 ball head and will never to a pan/tilt one again. The control I get and the ease of use are amazing.
