Ditto on all points. I don't even go to the store - I shop online.

Oh Man...

Maybe it is a good idea that Ritz Camera here dose NOT have the AF540 FGZ.. I still need to pay down my purchase of my K10D. But I did buy my K100D from Calumet mailorder.

Let us know how it works out.. I need a flash myself and have not decided on the AF540.

that shot of the box was w/ the 540. been playing w/ it for the better part of the day.

mounted on the cam, wireless mode, so far so good. still learning what settings to use w/ the flash on. and getting a bit used to it. i really like the fact that you can swivel and bounce it any which way. (which is why i went with the 540 as opposed to the 360.

will have more samples later on...

Um, me too. And the higher guide number, extra useful in bounces.

I bought it because I could not decide on a lens - at the moment. I'd like to replace the 70-300 with...something.

Wow That would cost a bit. I have not had a decent flash yet. Saving it for lens first

What is your feeling from using this flash?

well, the swivel/bounce was one of the features that attracted me to it.

yeah it did, but with the rebate it was only a little bit more than the sigma.

the flash was in the works for my camera budget this year. im not content with my lenses as of yet, but with the amount of indoor shooting i've been doing, a fast lens can only do so much. since im still building my core set up, im tailoring my lenses and other accessories on needs first, rather than wants..(that and Adam talked me into getting the flash and a 40 Pancake, rather than the 77)

as far as first impressions, it makes the k10 that much heavier. heh...
and from the 20+ or so shot's i've taken with it, it's great.

I havnt had an external unit for quite some time, so i have to relearn some basic techniques associated with flash photography. this thing is feature packed tho, and so far, im really digging the wireless function.

next up on the list DA*

That really rocks, JoN!
Good stuff!

If I had the $ I think I would have gone with your flash.... the sigma 500 is nice but a couple of things about it bug me... first, it is so finicky about sitting EXACTLY on the K10 shoe that I have to keep adjusting it in order to have the flash to work properly
also, I don't find the flash all that consistant, but this can be caused by the above problem.

let us know how yours works

cheers

Slipchuck and Jon Thank You

This is the kind of information you do not read very often about the flashes.. its mainly that "It won't do PTTL" or something.

I think the 540 is in my future.. down the road when I can afford it
