Pentax O-GPS1 vs K3 ii

It has been stated that the
K3 ii Astrotracer function is NOT as good as
the K3 with the
Pentax O-GPS1

It is reported that star trails show up sooner on the K3 ii
and that the K3 with O-GPS1 can get at least double the exposure time

before star trails appear.

Comments please.

Sounds like calibration gone wrong.

On Youtube the "photouniverse" fellow
had a k3 with the astrotracer unit attached and a new k3 ii

The k3 was producing better results than the k3 ii
for astrophotography. The k3 tracked significantly better than the k3 ii.

As has been iterated, if GPS has been precisely calibrated in either case, how could there be a difference. That is like saying that the GPS locator or compass has quit when it has not.

I have the O-GPS1 unit on a K-5IIS and also have a K-3II. I have never experienced a fault with either system.

I know there are a lot of components that can contribute to any type of shooting, but if the unit is precisely calibrated and has power I would not find fault. If there was a fault like that, I would assume it would have been known long before this.

I am just weighing the factors.

I tried searching for this video and came up empty. Can you post a link?

I have a K-50 with an O-GPS as well as the K-3 II so I'm interested in this topic but without seeing how the original test was conducted it's hard to make a truly informed comment.

I did some searching on Youtube in "Photouniverse" and now I cannot find the original content.

Sorry.
