K1000 Diopter?

This might be a bit of a stretch, but does anyone know where, online there may be diopters that can fit a K1000?

I'm unsure what the diopters would be labelled as, but I read online it uses the same ones as the ME Super.

Thanks!

The K1000 SFAIK takes the older, smaller size corrective eyepieces. When looking through a viewfinder, you're more-or-less viewing the screen at reading distance, so the diopter value you need should be the same as that of reading glasses you use. However, you can also get a rubber eyepiece that will fit the K1000 and will accept a custom-made circular lens that fits your prescription (eyeglass makers can fabricate one). I think I still have such an eyepiece (no lens installed) left over from way back. It will not fit the later, larger size eyepiece of Pentax cameras (for me it was a non-fit staring with the LX). IF I am correct about the K1000 having the original, smaller-size eyepiece, then it should also accept eyepieces that fit film-era Ricoh SLR's.

ADDED NOTE: The later, larger diopter lenses are apparently labeled "M" as this new size was introduced with the "M" series cameras (presumably including the ME Super). I'm not certain about the older, smaller size but they may may have been designated "SMC" as in "SMC +1." I found quite a few "M" diopter eyepieces on EBAY, most coming from Japan. Unless I'm mistaken, these will be too large to fit the K1000, but as I never owned the latter and I do not have the specifications on hand, perhaps Adam or someone will correct me.

Thanks so much for replying! I really appreciate it!

I have read a thread on here about someone making a custom one, but I am unsure of the specifications. I love my K1000 to death, but I just can't get good focus on it anymore due to my eyes.

Trying to get as much information about it as I can

There is a Chinese-made, variable diopter eyepiece available on EBAY that seems to have some kind of clamp mechanism that will attach it multiple-brand cameras (Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony and others). Might be worth a look if you cannot find and SMC diopter. BTW: If you want it, if I still have it, I'll send you the old rubber eyepiece that can have a lens made for it. It will only fit onto my old never-used Spotmatic (the K1000 is supposed to be a Spotmatic with a K-mount). BUT, if possible first confirm that the K1000 has the older smaller eyepiece size. Maybe send a query directly to Adam.

The K bodies, including the K1000, all use the older viewfinder attachments, including the 'SMC Correction Lens Adapter'. I believe there were 8 different diopters available (-5 to +3). I use a +2. It is my understanding Pentax viewfinders are set to -.5 diopter compensation.

This is what you want for a K1000, even though the listing indicates the "M" version: (The red/black/white box indicated a "K" Series version, that will also fit the Spotmatics.)
