Good point! I believe the wireless port is probably the same on the K3 (front); I'll have to take a look. This may have me rethinking getting a wireless one!
The K-3 and the other "metal" bodies have both front-and-rear wireless sensors. The "plastic" bodies only have the front one.

Thanks Todd; I had just looked at my K3, and did see that it had both front & back sensors.

You are welcome. Could you possibly tell me, when you use your Vello wired shutter release, do you have your camera drive mode set to ""Remote", or is that not required, which I am thinking may be a possibility since the "wired" is not wireless "remote"? I am almost ready to buy it and wanted to find out if you possibly knew.

I just wanted to thank you all for your input.

I went ahead and ordered the Vello RS-C1II Wired Remote Switch for Select Cameras RS-C1II B&H to use with my K-3II and K-5IIS.

I appreciate the help.

Sorry for the delay. No, I don't change the drive mode to Remote. It works with my regular settings.

Yes it does work great. I do prefer a wired remote for long sessions while using a telescope.

I have several Vello wired remotes and two Vello wireless remotes - they all work with my K3 and all that I've tried work on my K5 and K20. The Pentax plug is the same as that used on many (all??) Canon DSLRs

The wireless remote port on my K-50 is in the front of the camera, so it's really only useful if I want to take pictures in which I'm in the scene. The wired remote is a lot more useful, because I can use it to take a picture when I want absolutely no shaking, e.g., w/bulb or slow shutter speeds.
All you have to do is reach towards the front of the camera, you don't have to be in front of it.

I have a K-3II and a K-5IIS. I ordered a Foto&Tech Wired Remote Shutter Release Control CS-205 Replacement for PENTAX 645Z, 645D, K3, K5, K5 II, K30, K50, K500, K7, K110D, K100D, K100D Super, K200D, K10D, K20D and it did not work with either camera. I do not know if I was sent the wrong model, but it looked exactly like what was in the picture of it on the web. I sent it back today, and was notified that my refund was approved (Amazon).

So, I have been looking at the Vello RS-C1II Wired Remote Switch for Select Cameras RS-C1II B&H. Does anyone have any experience with this product? B and H seems like they know what they are doing, and I want something that works.
Both of these work on K5IIs bodies. The wireless version works around corners and a good distance away. The wired version uses no batteries.
