Did Honeywell ever offer a wide angle diffuser for the Potato Mashers? I have a 770 that I'd love to use more often. Thanks!

They did. The 770 only covers a 50mm lens. The Instruction manual speaks of an accessory kit that included four wide angle lenses that bayonet into place.
