FluCard not working on Windows 10 tablet

Hello

I just bought a cheap Windows 10 tablet, an Odys Winpad X9.
I can't get the FluCard to work.
In edge (former IE) there is no live view (black screen) as expected but all settings in remote capture are accessible.
With Chromium portable remote capture is greyed out - no access and in the settings menu/communication settings, all fields are empty.
Overall the response is extremly slow.

But: On all my Windows 7 PCs the FluCard is perfectly working with Chromium portable.

Anyone else having problems like these? Is this Windows 10 related?

Thanks, Heribert

The OS shouldn't the the problem, but the browsers you've tried might. Have you tried firefox or the standard version of chrome?

Edge is not a supported browser - Chrome is.

Thanks all.

I tried palemoon portable - a firefox based lean and fast browser.

I've got live view and all settings were there.

But after some seconds live view got frozen and all operations responded extremly slow with a delay of 10 or more seconds.

Perhaps I should use a version with a regular installer and ignore the nasty leftovers after an uninstall.

Firefox is not a supported browser AFAIK.

Chrome, Safari and Firefox are suppoted. I installed Firefox and got a live view - for one second!

So I started monitoring the WiFi connection and found the problem is driver or harware related. Maybe it's the WiFi settings.
The connection is not stable. It drops every few seconds. Requests or commands are sent to the camera but there is no steady datastream back to the browser.

I double checked every WiFi-connection setting but couldn't find a solution.
The connection to my router in contrast is very stable and reliable. I downloaded a 500MB file without any interruption.

And on my Windows 7 netbook it's working flawlessly. Same browser, same network settings - I'm clueless.

The copy of the User Setup document I've been able to find on line only lists Safari and Chrome as supported browsers.

I know for nothing about the FluCard app for Windows.

Does it require a plugin like Flash? Are either or both of your Windows 7 and Windows 10 64 bit? Browsers are moving away from using plug-in technology and none of the 64bit versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer or Edge support plugins. Edge 32 bit does not support plugins either.

Other than that Windows 10 or the browser may think the FluCard is not a trusted site and block it.

From Ricoh's FAQ:
QWhat are the software requirements of the communication device to operate with the O-FC1?
A:Android OS 4.2 or higher, Chrome browser IOS 6 or higher, Safari browser
Firefox: My experience and other sources on the net.

IE11 and edge do support the flucard's settings and commands. Only live view will not work because these browsers cannot read/display the specific video stream format.

No Flash plugin required. With Chrome (Chromium portable to be more specific) the app runs on both Windows 7 x86 and x64.
Chrome does have some privacy issues so I recommend Chromium.

I will dive deeper into the Windows 7/10 network settings and compare all settings side by side.

Any additional thoughts are welcome. Thanks all.

The FAQ also states:

Note: the O-FC1 is not guaranteed to work with all types of devices

Using Flucard for PENTAX with K-3 Q&A - Part 1 | Ricoh Imaging Support

Assuming the FluCard is using HTTP Live Streaming to display the video then it is using DASH or HLS protocols or both (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP or HTTP Live Streaming, respectively). HLS is an Apple protocol. Both protocols are supported under Internet Explorer 10+ or Internet Explorer Mobile. Support is often through Javascript. Microsoft Edge has its own Javascript engine.

The privacy issues with Chrome may be nothing compared to the privacy issues in Windows 10.

You are being very stubborn, Marabella.

Firefox is *not* listed.

I'll leave you to work your problem out.

Oh clackers, my problem is not browser related!! Why do you permanently insist on this Firefox thing?

The FluCard is working fine, stable, reliable on my Windows 7 PCs with Chrome!!

And it's not working on my Windows 10 tablet with Chrome.
Perhaps it is a protocol issue. Maybe Windows 10 is rejecting the data that are being sent from the FluCard.
All I know is that the WiFi-connection to the FluCard is very unstable. But only to the FluCard's network.
The connection to my router's network via WiFi is working flawlessly.

Uninstalled/reinstalled the Wifi adapter, updated the driver, resetted the TCP settings, deactivated the firewall - none did the trick.

It may not be WIndows 10 at all but just the WiFi on the tablet.

Not a number: Appreciate your hint!

I too guess it's the WiFi on the tablet - hardware or software? Yet I don't know. I'm checking.

I've monitored and logged the simple and plain network TCP without a connected browser and I've got this:

08-Jul-16 00:27:03 Listen 192.168.1.50 0.0.0.0 139 0 4 System System
08-Jul-16 00:27:13 Close 192.168.1.50 0.0.0.0 139 0 4 System System
08-Jul-16 00:27:23 Listen 169.254.218.13 0.0.0.0 139 0 4 System System
08-Jul-16 00:27:34 Listen 192.168.1.50 0.0.0.0 139 0 4 System System
08-Jul-16 00:27:34 Close 169.254.218.13 0.0.0.0 139 0 4 System System and so on.......

IP 169.254.218.13 isn't a valid IP-address. Windows will pick this IP when no other option is available.

So far so Google

Successfully connected FluCard and Chrome on my tablet.
Live view, settings, etc. Everything is fully functional and working.

Very strange and provisional solution:

In Windows 10 WiFi-adapter/IP4 settings I assigned a static ip: 192.168.1.50
