My experience with the Wasabi battery wasn't as positive as some of the other PF members, from new it didn't last near as long as the Pentax and after one to one and a half years of moderate use the battery started to swell and became tight in the camera so in the trash it went.I purchased the Amazon basic 2500 Mah AA batteries and adapter for the k-50 and i get two to three times the battery life as the Pentax battery. Happy now that i don't need two charged batteries to get through a single day.

I carry backups to the OEM. And I will do so with the Wasabi. I have the AA adapter (the genuine Pentax one), and use it fully loaded with extras in a case, when the OEMs are dead when I'm out photographing wildlife.

I will call this case solved. I've ordered the package as I said in a previous post.

That is quite alarming (fire/explosion hazard). Did you contact Wasabi?

Thanks much, Steve. The one I have that swelled is just about three years old. Might be too late but I'm going to contact them and see what they have to say.

I found them and they even have this underneath the advertisement:

Any questions? Call Blue Nook at 1-877-268-1235 or email info@bluenook.com

In case this will help others.

I know a lot members use Wasabi batteries, I wanted to know why it says "decoded" if there might be a problem later. I have one that came with my used K-30 and it's swollen and unusable in my K-50.
I think this means that the batteries circumvented certain measures that Pentax places in the firmware of their cameras to prevent the use of non-original batteries. Canon does this too and Lenovo also does this on their laptops.

As far as I know Pentax has no such provision to prevent 3rd party batteries where some other camera manufacturers do.

I agree with Uncle Vanya. Pentax has never done this, although Nikon has.

I read a little more deeply on the Wasabi Power store on Amazon. When they say decoded in regards to Pentax, it means the ability to translate the charge state to the camera.

Steve
That was what I meant, Canon also made it hard for batteries to report its state. But Canon did this to combat 3rd party batteries

Batteries and charger arrived yesterday. I put them in the Pentax charger to make sure they were fully charged, then put one in the K-50. I'll let you know when it runs out of power and how many shots I got, if you care to know.
