OpTech Hood Hats

I absolutely love OpTech's Hood Hats for my lenses. For convenience, I always leave the hoods on my lenses, making it very difficult to attach/detach the lens caps. These neoprene Hood Hats go over the hoods, eliminating the need for the caps; and gives very good protection from scratches, nicks on the hoods. I also have used their straps on every camera I've owned! The Hood Hats slip on/off easily, and can be folded up to put in a pocket, while camera is in use.

Hood Hat | OP/TECH USA

This is a Montana company that makes their products on site. Nice to pickup the phone & get a "live" person to discuss something with immediately, without hitting several numbers to get to a rep.

Those look great, Carol. I've heard of them before, but never really looked at them properly. I'd definitely have a use for those with my tele lenses

Mike, they are really a great addition to any lens, but especially those with hoods. My most recent was the one for my Tamron 500 mirror; in the Nature design (which I really like!). It's very inconvenient for me to carry the hoods separately, and put them on/off, just to be able to attach a lens cap more easily. These hoods, solve that, and give added protection!

OpTech is a small company right here in Montana, plus their products are availble at B&H, etc.

We bought one a few years ago for my wife's Hasselblad SWC and it is great. A tight fit but comes off easily. If I kept any other lens in a camera bag with the lens hood on I would definitely have a lens hood hat for them too.

I don't use them for everything, but I do have one that I use on my 300mm f4 when the hood is on it, and another that I use on a Sigma 10-20mm when I use an ultra thin polarizer that has no outer thread, so a snap cap won't work.

Shucks, I've always just used thick, stretchy athletic socks.

You know, the mate to the one you can't find?

Awesome products--I run a hood hat on my only tele, and it's pretty handy. Their lens wraps are nicely sized for DA Limited lenses as well.

I tried these and found them not quite as useful as I had hoped. I just picked up a bunch of cheap, generic pinch caps to use and still keep hoods on; with one or two exceptions, that works great. But I still have one of these hats for my 70-200 and I like that one (it's one of the aforementioned exceptions).

Now OpTech lens sleeves! Those are genius!

Thanks for the heads up on these OpTech Hood Hats Carol. Looks like it could just be what is needed to protect the sensitive silver finish on my FA* lens hoods.

I've got Hood Hats on 3 of my lenses and I really like them. I don't have to worry about accidentally bumping them and knocking them off the way I used to do when I used lens caps on the end of my hoods.

Nope, but those're 'high quality' socks an' been washed at least once a year.

But did ya do a 'sniff-test' on the 500, 10-24 or 16-45?
