Hoya filter DMC vs HMC question

I'm a little bit confused with this different filter that HOYA offered.

DMC is their filter specially designed for digital.
I guess HMC is the old design for film camera era.

So if I'm using an FA lens ( from film era) with a Digital SLR body (from digital era of course), which type of filter will be better for me?
The DMC version or HMC version? Is there any difference?

My understanding is Hoya have 3 levels of coating:
HMC (good), DMC (not much better), Super HMC (best).

I'm not sure what DMC means when comparing IQ from film vs digital lenses, but don't see it as much of an advantage to Hoya's pretty good quality HMC filters.

I've chosen the Super HMC variety for most of my lenses and have been very pleased with them - they're slimmer and thinner than the regular filters.

I have actually started using Sigma DG filters which I find have been quite good.

Hmm...so why in the world Hoya making another model which is DMC, is it just a marketing gimmick?

As long as they are multi-coated for Digital camera use then you should be fine. Obviously some brands are better than others. I would advise sticking with name brand manufacturers over those cheap ones on eBay.
