I had a wasabi go bad on me like yours but I didn't buy it, it came with the used K-30 I bought from a forum member. When I realized I had to use a flat blade screwdriver to remove it, I chucked it to the garbage. Since then, I have bought two new ones, same brand and so far no problems.

I agree. Replacing a battery is a whole lot cheaper than replacing a camera, not to mention the very serious injuries you could suffer if that sucker decides to blow up while you're looking through the viewfinder!!!
