I have purchased a few 3rd party remotes, very reasonable and found out that some seem to work better than others. It appears as though these remotes can operate several brands of DSLRs. I have found that more recent models, like K-3, don't like these bargain remotes, but other models, like K-50 seem to work fine. From a tech point is the signal to the camera the same on these? Is it a generic signal? I have tried these remotes on different K-3's and got same results(somewhat faulty & no flash fire or reduced output at times) On a K-50 it just loves it. thanks.

I have had a couple of cheap ones from ebay with mixed results. They seem to work OK for a while but fail when most needed. I recently acquired a Pentax O-RC1 and can't fault it.

What type of remote di you mean?
*infrared. There is a specific ir-protocol, not all will fit, it depends on the quality of implementation of the ir protocol.
*electrical cable remote, every one with the 2.5 mm 3pin connector will fit, they also fit a lot of Canon RS-60E3, Pentax CS-205, SC-205, CS-105, SC-105
*rf-signal, all will fit, when the trigger is via the cable remote
