I'm following TaoMaas' "horses for courses" philosophy as well--my
remuda currently consists of 1.) a Uni-loc 1700 for day hikes, especially during wildflower season; and 2.) a CF Induro CX-214 for longer jaunts up the hill. Still pending approval from the domestic unit are 3.) a travel tripod for international trips; and 4.) a "big hammer," (Gitzo 3-series equivalent) for classic landscape scenarios, especially with Medium Format kit. I could even find a use for this 'un:

if only to pair with my Manfrotto 410 in case I needed to Mjolnir a bear. And you say you have a problem...
BTW, I suspect your K-1/70-200 combination would make that Explorer squeal--a great tripod for other applications, though.
