My first impressions of the new Peak Design Everyday Backpack (30L)

It's only my third blog post, so feel free to provide any sort of constructive criticism, or suggestions for things you'd like to see in the future.

I think you covered the subject very well. Only thing I would have liked to see is a photo of the complete bag itself. None of the closeup photos showed this. Other than that your photos, along with the explanations were spot on!

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Excellent. A really good "first impressions" blog post that I enjoyed reading. Again, nice to get a "real world" view of the product, rather than the often-polarised formal reviews where everything's either perfect or terrible.

I agree with Carol - it would be nice to see a photo or two of the complete bag... the other photos are great.

Thanks for the fun read

Judging from the pictures, the Peak products appear to be more like giant camera purses than true backpacks. Unless I missed it, along with the omission of a full picture of the bag, I found no listing of weight or dimensions.

Airlines, especially when traveling internationally, are becoming obsessive in some cases about weight and the limitation they place on carryon. A lightweight bag that provides adequate cushioning vs one that is overly padded and over built, can make the difference between bringing a backup body or lens on an international trip or leaving it at home. I've had such 'fights' with gate agents at LAN, Qantas and British Air, where in all cases I was overweight, according to their scales, ranging from a couple of ounces to under a pound.

Going to the Peak website, I found the 20 and 30 to be true backpacks and certainly a couple of pounds lighter than my five year old Clik. The 20, at about 3 pounds, appears to be a near-perfect bag for international travel.

Hey all, I added a 'family photo' to the post, showing a full shot of the 30L Backpack, along with the Tote, Sling and even the tiny Field Pouch. Thanks for the feedback!

I still really like my old Clik Elite bag, because I enjoy the separation between 'camera stuff' and 'not camera stuff' through zippered layers, but I find myself using the new bags much more frequently.
