That should make this advice easy to follow:

...and here for an encore is the jig on Lexar's grave and the drinking from its skull...

Mmm. There's generally very little reason to follow anything he says, but - on this occasion - you could be right

I purchased several 32GB cards from Henry's while they were on special, and so I guess I can say they'll be suitable as backup cards.

I've had many brands of cards over the last 10 years, including Lexar. Only had one (apparently temporary) problem out of them all - and it was not with Lexar.

I've only ever owned one Lexar card, but I've had it for several years and no issues.

I have no idea why I suggested we believe anything from the Angry Photographer... He's an idiot.

With the difference Micron will still be making the flash memory but somebody else will be marketing the brand. Wonder what they will do with Crucial

I find it strange that people are cheering this. I had a broken Lexar SD card a few years ago which was replaced for a bigger storage model for free without any questions being asked. I found that an amazing level of service for an item that had cost me maybe $20

Same here, some people may not realize, or care, that the only major manufacturer left standing in this arena is Sandisk. They pretty much have a monopoly on the market - which isn't good for consumers.

Micron may be selling the brand, but doesn't the very act of selling it diminish the value?

Actually Samsung is dominating the nand flash market. SanDisk is just the biggest brandname. it is owned by Western Digital.

Like D1N0 I was going to mention Samsung.

That being said, and while I don't think posters in this thread are reveling in the news, I agree that it's sad when a reputable company gets out of business.

There is a difference between nand-flash manufacturers and sd-card manufacturers. Many of the former just buy memory from one of the above. You don't see Kingston or Transcend in there though they are pretty big.
