Anyone know where to buy it on it's own?

Ebay has them for less than $1. They are from China, but work perfectly. I bought one recently and it works fine.

Yes, generic caps are widely available and fit much better than the original that came with the camera. BTW...what is a K II?

Maybe he means the K-1 II. Which would mean he is testing a pre-production model of the rumored K-1 replacement. The rumor of which just started.

I don't know if it's all the new models, but my KP came with a proper black plastic bayonet body cap, instead of the milky soft-plastic snap in / fall out caps that had been the rule. Maybe they heard the complaints.

I believe the KP is the first with the new caps. It is about time, IMHO. I have a couple of early-80s vintage Ricoh caps that I use when I must have a body cap. Now if Pentax can follow on with decent rear lens caps* for their lower-end lenses, all would be well in the universe.

* The flimsy black push-on cap that came with my DA 50/1.8 is a disgrace.

sorry I thought it was common knowledge. K II cap is the body cap that the K-1 and Kp have.

I actually like to use the black push-on rear caps in the field - saves fiddling trying to line up the bayonet lugs, especially in the dark. But for transport or storage, I prefer the hard-plastic type with a flange to cover the contacts.
