Decent camera tripod these days for under $250 ?

Hello fellow members;

I still have my old Vanguard from years ago and it has seen it's days.
Getting back into photography after so many years and things have changed with quality control vs price.

Looked at the accessories section for reviews of tripods but when you only have one or two reviews it does not appeal.

Looking for a proven sturdy ball head tripod for around $250. if there is such a thing now days.

Thanks;
Clarence

I have a 190Xpro3 and it should tick all your boxes. Might be a bit over 250 but it's definitely sturdy and proven

Edit: it's 177$ on BH for the tripod and 229$ for the kit I have (with the 496RC2 ball head). It's a stable ball head but always seems to droop a bit when I tighten it so you may want to get the tripod and head separately.

Check out B&H used section. I bought a show room display model and saved a ton of money. I didn't get the carry bag but other than that it was in perfect shape. They also have the reviews from people who got them new.

With your budget you could get a nice tripod.

+1 on the B&H used option--I've noticed that they're pretty reasonable on their demo/used sticks. (One caveat: I suspect it's a bit more difficult for anyone to honestly rate a tripod's condition--too many hidden parts to wear out.)

Otherwise, you can usually find Induro/Benro tripods deeply discounted, most often in January or February I think, as the new models hit.

Thanks for the replies.

used Manfrotto 3021 for less than $100 - it's not sexy or carbon fibre, but it's rock-steady and works every single time I need it...

This one fit your budget. they made very good and stable Mid-size tripod with fair price. I am using one of those for 4-5 years already never have a problem and I go out for photoshooting almost every weekend.

Received my new tripod today.

Good evening;

Wanted to thank everyone for their replies.
Went to B&H but bought a new one for $130. and well under my budget.

Purchased a Davis & Sanford Magnum XG tripod with the PB343-27 ball head.
This thing is a different world away from my old Vanguard

From what I can tell, this is going to be a great tripod for my needs.
Field testing tomorrow.
