Bogen / Manfrotto hex plate to Arca Swiss

I would like to add an L-bracket and start using an Arca Swiss system. Will an Arca Swiss clamp screw on to a Manfrotto hex plate to allow me to use the plates & head that I already have? If so, what will I need to do this?

Thanks,
Tony

Just get the Arca clamp with the same size screw (1/4 or 3/8 in) as the hex plate or a hex plate with the same size as the clamp or a thread adapter.

What Manfrotto head are you running? Chris Hejar makes a conversion kit for the 229 but I'm not sure what other RC0 heads are supported. (I have the 410 Arca-Swiss conversion plate/clamp and have nothing but good things to say it.)

Manfrotto Adapters

Otherwise, Kirk makes a clamp that bolts onto the hex plate itself as mentioned above.

As noted above, screw-on Arca clamps are readily available from multiple vendors. I have a Desmond DAC-X1 (50mm) that I use with my non-QR 494 ballhead and it works great. If I want to use the ballhead "naked", it is easily removed. Current price with bubble level is less than $20 USD.

I bought something like that and mounted it onto a hex plate, partly to use a L bracket and partly cause I have 3 Manfrotto tripods with hex QR and two Arcam Swiss style travel tripods.
