Polarizing filters

I will be needing a polarizer for the D FA 50/1.4, and would like to tap into the shared wisdom of the good people (and the naughty ones too) on this forum.
I am leaning towards the Zeiss CZ T* Circular Polarizer as I can get it at a slightly reduced price (and both it and the lens has a * in the name, which is as good a reason as any at the moment).
I don't mind spending a bit of money as I want a good filter for what is promising to be a very good lens.
Any thoughts, good or bad would be appreciated.

For $100 US, that is a nice chunk o change. Zeiss has always made good optics. Treat it nice and don't drop it!

I really like my Marumi dhg Cpl. Price was great, and performance wise it's very good.

X4 CPL ? Breakthrough Photography

Not inexpensive, but some of the best filters available.

Not being one for snap decisions, I decided my initial thoughts regarding the Zeiss filter was close enough to correct, and I have one on the way.
I hope it doesn’t arrive to much before the lens....

Nice article. I typically use B+W filters, found them to be of excellent quality. I do have a Marumi 77mm CPL I use on my DA*16-50mm lens. It's been an excellent filter too. And much less expensive than the B+W filters. I've been looking at the Breakthrough Photography filters but have yet to purchase any.

I don't think you'll go wrong with the Zeiss either.

A bit late since the OP has already ordered but:

Breakthrough Photography has just come out with a new system that attaches the filters magnetically. They already make very high end filters comparable to any of the best from the other brands but this new method of attachment is different enough I thought it worth mentioning.

Most welcome! I stumbled on their series of reviews on polarizers a year or so back, and it struck me as one of the best conducted tests out there covering the brands of interest (to me at least). I think you'll find the Ziess does well.

Yeah, it would drive me nuts to have the filter and no lens too

. I'm planning on buying this lens, but I'm doing the K1 upgrade first, and given the cutoff on the upgrade, I'll go for that first.

I too have settled on B+W as my go to filter brand, but I'm also very interested in what Breakthrough Photography is doing, and I'm intrigued by Zeiss too. At some point, I'm probably going to grab a Breakthrough filter to check them out. Just have to pick the size, which means picking which lens(es), and that gets tricky!

Many people swear by Marumi, cheaper than many other brands and just as good or better.
