Does an 8mm (less than 10mm) extension tube exist for Pentax?

I was hoping to find a 8mm or 10mm extension tube for wide angle experimentation with my 10mm Rokinon. Am I on a wild goose chase? Does anyone have other ideas short of purchasing another lens?
Thanks for your thoughts
Bob

With the mount being ~5mm deep (lens side) it'll probably be hard to find one. But I suppose if it's just for experimentation and not daily use you could try 3d printing one?

How about sacrificing a rear lens cap and a body cap. A bit of sawing and epoxy could hack it together.

The Nikon to K-mount adapters are around 8mm. You can buy them without glass elements. There are also glass-less K-mount lens to Nikon mount adapters available. Buy one of each and maybe you can swap the Pentax female bayonet from the Pentax to Nikon adapter onto Nikon to Pentax adapter (male Pentax bayonet).

The position of the locking tab might be a problem.

My extension kit has 3 tubes and the part that connects to the lens and the part that connects to the camera. I scewed just these together to use my 10-20mm. with no tube just the connections its 11mm +

You could probably get a camera cap and cut out the center with fins.

I believe Ronald Oaks was looking for one a couple of months ago. If I remember right, he found either a 9mm or 10mm. It might be worth shooting him a pm to see where he found it.

What a cool idea. So far, all the rear lens caps I have are ~10mm thick, so adding the body cap will add some length too. Hmm. Maybe I can find a thinner rear cap - or cut one so it's a bit thinner. Hmm. Might be hard to make such a thin cut... Maybe there's a way to use a lens reversal ring as part of the rig..?

Thanks for the suggestion.

10mm M42

I need to find a 10mm M42 extension tube - PentaxForums.com

If you can find the Pentax made Extension Tube K (non-auto) the smallest tube is 9.5mm. The auto version is 12mm.

These claim the smallest tube is 7mm. But does that count the male and female adapter?

For $7.19 I decided to give the ebay tubes a try. The 7mm tube, if it works, is really close to what I was after. I'm looking for closer-focusing than the lens alone, not necessarily 1:1. My internet search skill and endurance are *not* legendary. Without your help I never would have found these, thanks for your suggestion - and everyone else too!

Just an update: The $7.19 eBay simple extension tubes arrived from China - I had hoped that using only the male and female adapters alone would produce an extension of less than 10mm. Sadly, that is not the case. With these simple tubes, the smallest ring alone is 7mm - including the front/back adapters produces an extension of ~19mm. Screwing only the two adapters together produces 12mm, which is the same as the smallest of my Pentax Auto Extension tubes.

So in a sense, my $7.19 experiment was a failure...

More optimistically, I just succeeded in eliminating this particular option for wide-angle close focusing.

For now, I'll continue experimenting with my SMC A 28mm with the 12mm auto extension tube.

Thanks everyone for your input!
Bob

For others interested, here are some options for wide angle macro. I am trying to avoid another lens purchase.
