Mindshift Gear Ultralight 25L Backpack

I'm currently preparing for a family vacation to Europe and don't want to miss the opportunity to take some camera gear with me. I already have a camera backpack that I love, the Incase DSLR Pro. That one joined my collection of gear in January, and I highly recommend it. It holds a ton of gear, my MacBook, and plenty of other necessities for a shoot. But, I'm packing light for my family vacation and don't want to take a dedicated camera bag. After a week of research for a camera backpack that wasn't exclusively for camera gear I narrowed it down to the Lowepro Photo Sport 300 AW II and the Mindshift Ultralight 25L. While I like to buy things online using the affiliate links here at PF, I prefer to support my local camera stores. Fortunately, my local shop had the Mindshift in stock so I could see it in person before buying. It also gave me a chance to check out other bags from Peak Design, Thinktank, etc.

Ultimately, I chose the Mindshift. One concern I had about the Lowepro was that the 200 was too small and the 300 too large. Also, I wasn't sold on the camera compartment being permanent. The Mindshift solves that problem by making the camera compartment a removable insert that has its own strap and can be used separately. I wish it had a better organizer...preferably a side zip on the opposite panel as the camera opening, but it has ample storage for all my gear. I have yet to use the bag, but I'll report back after two weeks of exploring France and Italy.

Looks good, Mindshift is a ThinkTank company, I have a couple of Think Tank bags that are very nice and well made. So I think it should serve you well as MindShift is their upper level line.

I was actually made aware of it because of a pro photographer friend who recommended ThinkTank. ThinkTank didn't have any bags that fit what I was looking for. The Mindshift, though, was as close to exactly what I was looking for as I could realistically want. I'm hoping that ThinkTank's good reputation for quality extends to my new bag.
