Awesome. Can't wait to try it with my manual lenses!

I do wear glasses (even when shooting, there is no astigmatism correction on the OVF), which exacerbates the issue.
I don't understand this. The diopter adjustment is on the body on the K3 (and K1). Can't that be used in conjunction with the O-ME53?

I think you'll like it. I don't have a K-1, but I have an O-ME53 fitted on each of my Pentax and Samsung re-brand APS-C cameras, and I wouldn't want to be without them. Since it's the viewfinder that's being magnified, the sensor format has no bearing.

I can't recall who, but one of our members isn't quite so keen on the O-ME53 and prefers a third party model. His reason being that it provides a sharper frame-wide magnification, which is beneficial if you're manually focusing on a subject that's not in the centre of your frame. This makes sense, but I can honestly say I've personally not run into any difficulties with the O-ME53.

I will say, any viewfinder magnifier isn't a panacea for accurate manual focusing. It helps, for sure, but it won't give you the same accuracy as a shim-calibrated split-prism focusing screen or magnified Live View with an LCD loupe (of course, those solutions have their own problems). Don't expect to achieve 100% accuracy focusing an 85mm f/1.4 lens wide open just because you've magnified the viewfinder image a little But so long as your expectations are reasonable, I think you'll be very happy with the O-ME53

I leave my glasses on when shooting for the astigmatism correction. The diopter adjustment is only for near- or far-sightedness, it does not help with astigmatism.

I used one with my k3 for a long time but recently took it off and prefer it off. I wear glasses and while I could move around to see it all, I couldn't see it as easily. I really don't use mf so the utility isn't great vs the annoyance for me.

As long as it helps a bit with focusing manually, I'd be happy

I think having to wear glasses takes away greatly from one of these. I know the eye relief would be too great for me if I had to leave my readers on - luckily the diopter adjustment takes care of what my cheaters do, and if it's 10 feet or further away, I can see it - arms just aren't long enough to hold the camera like that and....

I always laugh a bit at the adjustable diopter since my astigmatism alone is +4 diopters on a -12...

Yikes! With an astigmatism like that, I can see why you shoot with glasses on. I'm lucky in that my astigmatism is slight, and Lasik some years ago has worked well for me. Unfortunately, as told up front, that only fixes distance and can't account for aging and the resultant stiffening of muscles etc. that prevents near focus. Still within the limits of that little diopter wheel, so savoring every second of shooting without glasses while I can.

Here's where things get interesting. I noticed the other day that if I use my phone's LCD screen I can use my phone as augmented reality in place of my glasses - granted my astigmatism is still an issue but I can look at my screen on my phone and see everything in focus if I put it close to my eyes. (I have age related issues with close vision but my huge nearsightedness resolves that for me when I have no glasses on. I am wondering why this works and if the OVF focusing screen is just too far away to work? I'm curious now if an EVF will do likewise for me. It's not a situation that would be easier - just a curiosity. I'm not going to put on and off my glasses as they work fine on the camera and having them off means more chances to lose them or damage them.

Well, my little a6000 has a diopter adjustment on it's EVF, so interesting question on how all the optics of this fit together.

Indeed, even innocent discussions on this forum lure the rest of us towards financial decline and storage burden.

Indeed saw this thing somewhere mentioned, looked it up, and now i'm down $35 and waiting for delivery. One day I'll wake up to an empty bank account and a room full of useful photography related items for all situations
