Embarrassing Question around Tripod and Head

I just recently purchased a Silk ABLE 300 DX tripod, with a Manfrotto 486RC2 head.

The problem I'm having that seems really silly but I can't seem to attach the head to the tripod. The hole in the head is too big and doesn't attach to the tripod.

What am I doing wrong? How can I get it attached?

You need a 3/8" to 1/4" bushing.
The common legs to head mount is 3/8" UNC (whitworth), your tripod legs have the common head to camera mounting stud which is 1/4" UNC (whitworth)
You csn get a bush which adapts one to the other.

normally the adaptor mentioned by pw-pix is sold with the tripod head, both mine came with it.

When you get the adaptor, be certain to install it with loctite so that it remains in place, they have a habbit of coming loose.

I took it back to the shop and I was missing a part as you both thought. It was the metal circle ring type thing.
