Newer D-Li90 Battery Question

I am seeing "Genuine" D-Li90 batteries advertised on eBay for ~$20, which as you know is roughly half price in the US. My problem with them is the photos show this..

but my OEM D-Li90 batteries all have a six digit code in black on a silver background stip with the date of manufacture (i.e., "201409" for Sept. '14) but as you can see from the photo these have no such marking. So, my question is - are the newer genuine Pentax batteries now coming without the manufacture date stamped on them?

Shouldn't it say "Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company, Ltd." rather than "Hoya Corporation", if the battery is new?*

* Maybe NOS?

All of my batteries have the date, as you noted.

Beware of the Typo -- Corportion

I have two genuine Pentax D-Li90 battery packs -- both have date codes:

"Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company" 201207
"Ricoh Imaging Company" 201509.

The pack you show has a typo in the company's name: Hoya Corportion. You might want to do a quick online search to see if other confirmed genuine batteries of that vintage carried the typo. Otherwise, it might be a tip-off to a fake.

It would be an old battery (pre-2011 or 2012) if it's a genuine Hoya.

Edit: I searched online. The only samples I found bearing the typo "Corportion" are for sales from unknown sellers. Several eBay sellers show the same image as yours, all with the typo. I also found examples of batteries bearing the correct spelling of CORPORATION; those appear to be genuine.

I wonder if that's a fake? All my genuine Pentax batteries have the date codes.

Looks like a genuine fony to me.

Edit: Wow, there certainly are a lot them. Presumably Hoya stumbled upon a forgotten warehouse
full of batteries and is flooding the market in an effort to tank Ricoh sales, (maybe they're aiming for
another hostile takeover). Maybe we'll see a flood of $100 K-5's on the market next week?

Thanks. I already thought it to be a fake but wanted to confirm that new than my 2014 batteries still carry the date code. Appreciate the info, thanks.

P.S. Still prefer my Wasabi batteries at 80-90% the capacity for 20-30% the cost of OEMs.

Just get Hähnel batteries: Hähnel - For Pentax
I have 3 spares for K-1 and can't tell the difference with the original ones.
I got them for about $20 each.

Yup, I've had a couple of the Wasabis in my battery rotation for about a year and they've been just as reliable as oem.

I seem to remember that the D-Li90 batteries had no date code on them until the K-3 was released, i.e., those that came with the K-7 and K-5 had no date code.

Memory is faulty, my OEM batteries, starting with my first with the K5, all have the date code.

Just pulled my cameras out and looked. The battery that came with my K7 says Hoya on it and does not have a date code.

Never owned a K7, good to know. Perhaps some of the original K5s also did not have date codes on their battery.

Could I ask you to please indicate the spelling of "Corporation" on the battery? CORPORTION or CORPORATION?
