I've got a 450, and it's definitely good at carrying a lot of gear. But it's big and will get pretty heavy if you really load it up.
Although the carrying system is good, I still wouldn't want to hike more than a couple miles with it fully loaded.

For longer trips, I use an Osprey backpacking pack, and attach the camera to one of the shoulder straps with a Peak1 Capture Clip for quick access.
