Well, I bought another Gitzo but I'm going to return it. Heads I have won't fit it and their heads are way expensive. I'll tell KEH, the screw is too big for my tripod head to fit. So I'm just going to buy the one sealonsf suggested.

And btw, I never leave my tripod unattended, even with the Manfrotto was up in the wind.

Sorry, bit late on this one - you can get an adapter to fit on a 3/8" tripod which takes a 1/4" head. Manfrotto used to do one, I know.

You were assuming I was going to attach the camera directly to the tripod. I was not planning to do that. But thanks for your input.

And after keeping the tripod, found a head similar to what I have now. Problem solved.

Thanks everyone for your input. I was appreciated!!

I think you misunderstood the purpose of the adapter I mentioned - it is to go between the 3/8" 'male' thread on the tripod, and the 1/4" 'female' thread on the tripod head, whichever one you use.

BTW, what is 'cruiing ?

I've never had to use an adapter/reducer for any tripods I've owned. According to Manfrotto, the head is 3/8 inch fits exactly on the other the tripod.

Your other question, a typo.

I only made the suggestion as many years ago I had to get one for that exact same purpose. Fit a Slik head on a Manfrotto tripod.

Oh, sorry, I was just wondering if it were a curious, obscure Greek word.

Yeah well, Manfrotto tripod heads as I said are 3/8 inc. And the new head I bought is a Manfrotto but an older version of the one I own now..

And since I don't speak Greek, that would never happen.

And as it turns out, I didn't buy the Gitzo, I bought a Bogen, silver aluminum. I must have deleted the Gitzo from my wish list.
