Bag suggestions for Pentax ME

Hello

New to the forum. Looking for suggestions on a good affordable shoulder bag for my Pentax ME. Currently has 50 mm lens on it, plan to buy a 135 mm fixed.

I looked a Lowepro, but maybe some other brands have equal quality/features?

Thanks.

I too went Lowepros route, followed by Crumplers, then Pelicans (which now main transit/storage bags) and my recently acquired "shoot bag" has now become a Billingham.

Do your homework and buy it right once, bigger than you currently need and of a decent quality. This also applies to tripods too, it will save you an absolute fortune in the long run, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

When Iím traveling lighter, I have a Vesta Strive 30.

It holds my MX with two extra lenses and a tiny flash or maybe a swap of a lens for a tabletop tripod.

It will hold the K1, but itís happier with the MX or K-01

Hi Curt

Welcome

Bags they are never the 'right 'size once they have left the shop.
It is lot of research then when you find it ,look it has been discontinude
So in other words they mutiply in your closet/wardrobe.
As to brand you money sets the limit

I like my ThinkTank Mirrorless Mover 30i with a Domke strap upgrade.

For your requirements, just about any bag will do, even a holster (except if you want to carry both lenses).

It depends on your budget and what else you might want to be able to carry.

I really like the Think Tank Retrospective line, they're inexpensive and with a nice quality. Lowepro has a lot of products also, too many to keep up. You could also find a cheap, no-name sling bag with the ubiquitous shape copied by everyone.

If you want to splurge a bit more, I'd have a look at some other products. The MindShift Gear Photocross line is fantastic, durable, water resistant, sturdy. The version 10 would be small enough while offering some nice possibilities. It's a sling. The Peak Design Slings (the 5 would work for you, or the 10 if you want to carry extras) are also fantastic. A bit less comfortable than the Photocross over long periods of time (if the bag is loaded) but nicer to access the internals, and offers the possibility to attach a Capture Clip (invaluable addition to my kit, it has changed how I operate when taking pictures). Then there's the Peak Design Everyday Messenger. The version 13 would be a bit larger than your needs, again it lets you carry extras.

Mindshift also offers a messenger bag, as do a good many other brands.

I went another route, military surplus. True, they aren't DSLR, or even photography specific. But tough fabric made to take abuse, carried comfortably, with lots of little pockets? Plus sometimes they can be had dirt cheap. That sounds like Rookie's ideal carrying system. It may or may not work for you, but don't limit yourself to the box.
