Could you tell me what this is?

Hello, I'm wondering what this old accessory is. I got it from an ancient camera box. It looks like a tool that aids focusing with manual camera. Is this? Can I play with it with digital camera? It's very well made and elegant.

You can attach it to the camera viewfinder. I think they were meant to be used with older models but they might work with more modern bodies

This is an old angle finder. I don't know if this will fit at a DSLR

Then soft rubber eyepiece on most of the digital bodies slide straight up and off the camera.
This unit may slide onto the same slots.
The knurled ring at the top of this unit would allow you to adjust the focus so that the markings inside the viewfinder are sharp. It does nothing to focus the image, you still do that with the lens.
Useful on a tripod, or other fixed camera location.

It looks like it's an older version of this device

It is called a refconverter and looks to be the version that will fit M42 and K-series Pentax film SLRs. They are handy for right-angle viewing and also have provision for diopter adjustment. Given the Asahi branding, it is highly unlikely that it will fit M-series or later bodies. FWIW, there is a similar eyepiece magnifier too.

You can make it fit a Pentax DSLR, but only by widening the gap between the slides that fit into the camera viewfinder. I have one that has been modified (filed down a bit roughly, and not by me) and it works. Be prepared, though, to deal with a left-to-right reversed image. Ultimately, I couldn’t, so I searched around to find a later refconverter, which was much easier to use, though not cheap. Then, of course, along came the K-3 and FLUcard, and then the K-1, so I haven’t used either for a long time.

Even easier to fit, take the viewfinder cover for a dslr remove the mount from the right angle finder and screw the viewfinder cover with appropriate holes in this place

I cannot add much to what has already been said, but it is very useful for macro or even portrait work when using older cameras such as my Spotmatic. Here is a couple of photos of the one that I have.
