Gitzo 525 Tripod ! What a "Monster" !

I just got Helen Jo's Gitzo 525 Tripod and pulled it out of her closet as she is selling it.
This thing is an absolute "Monster" !
5 leg sections.
32" long closed.
Weighs 20 Lbs.
Stands over 9'6" when fully extended !
Im speechless !
Note the bottom leg section in image isn't even extended !!!

Knowing what current GItzo models cost, it hurts my head to think what this would cost if manufactured today!

I can understand for taking pictures of large groups from above but what other purposes would a tripod like this be used for?

or a teepee?

Those big tripods are pretty stable. It could have also been used to get sound monitors or lighting up high back in the day.

How heavy is it? Do you need a shopping cart to wheel it around?

Wrap a tarpaulin around it and you have instant accommodation.

Did it come with a ladder or was it only for sale in Holland?

Since the invention of drones these tripods have gone out of fashion.

Yup... looks like it can be very useful with UWAs to get everything level and straight.
