I have an old AC adapter - what is it for?

It's a D-AC10. The plug that goes into the wall socket is Australian spec, and the end that goes in the Pentax technology does not fit my K-5, which I bought here in Canada.

The only Pentax DSLR I ever acquired in Australia is my long-dead *istDL, so I figure it might be for that and for any other *istD-series cameras, but confirmation would be nice before I plug it into my *istDS and blow up some irreplaceable circuitry.

According to the manual1 the D-AC10 is the correct AC adapter for the *istDS.

Bert beat me to the answer, and I had the manual downloaded and was reading it, when Bert jumped ahead of me. Oh well, at least you got the right answer.

These kind of adapters were popular in the early days of DSLRs. Then, batteries cost about $10,000 a pop, and so we had to rely on indoor or (extension lead) garden shots.

This solution was not without difficulties. The heat generated was enough to send the nearest Polar Bear family scurrying off to the poles.

They are still popular now for unattended operation. My K-3 takes the K-AC-132, though numerous clones are available through the usual places. Even better would be one backed by a battery pack, something I have not yet found.

I have a 1stD, 1st DS and a 1st DL. The ac adaptor, which I also have, works with all 3.

And me, the second - I'm doing my best to catch you up. Only 16 months to go, then we'll be level. Oh, no, wait a minute ... Oh well, many happy returns, any road up.
