Laying on wet ground?

I used to use little blue foam pads cut from sleeping pads. No I just look down my tilt screen most of the time.

Half the time I'm kneeling on rocks.

I don't lie on the ground much anymore for photography, but when I did, I would carry the aforementioned Glad Garbage bag. I would try to go for a better class of big, dark green garbage bag (Glad if I recall was a favoured brand) for thicker plastic, think it was anyways.

One other thing I did back then and still do today, is carry a smaller white garbage bags (ie; kitchen wastebasket size) carefully folded flat, in my back jean pocket...in case the rain came down in torrents....WR Pentax or not...I would cover camera body and lens as I hotfooted it out, to the safety of my car.

After all, I'm not ashamed to admit, that I'm generally a fair weather photographer.

Tyvek house wrap scraps is often free (if you ask at any construction site) and durable.

Just watched what the cardinals pulled up in the yard. A barrier to the ground isn't a bad idea. They ate a bunch then collected more.

I keep a cheap yoga mat in my car. It cost me less than $10. Works a treat.

Plenty of water repellent hunting gear available, the camo would just an added advantage.

Take your raincoat off and kneel/sit on it?
Low tripod and remote release?

But pepperberry farm's option of just getting wet is the cheapest and most compact

If they are in camo and you can see them they are worth laughing at. I am sure you don't laugh at the ones you can't see.

I like the yoga mat idea. Gives a little padding too which could come in handy for elbows.

6 mil plastic sheeting. Cut to size and fold up. I cut mine from a piece I used for decades as a ground cloth under my backpacking tent when I did that kind of outdoor stuff.

Alternatively, those Mylar emergency space blankets cost about 90 cents a piece in a pack of ten and fit in a pocket.
