A little hack that I use on my pinch caps to make it easier to put them on is to use a piece of gaffers tape, partly folded over and partly stuck on to make a handle of sorts. It makes it much easier to replace caps on my telephoto lenses.

I need some new caps. Mine all pinch from the edge. Ones like the one above pinch a little closer to the center.
Thanks

Those can be pinched from the edges as well. Personally I prefer the edge style caps with "PENTAX" embossed on the tabs. Less bulky looking. People with bigger or thicker fingers probably prefer the center pinch style.

I use round, metal hoods on all my older lenses. Some I have pinch caps that fit...and others have press-on caps. It just depends on what I can find that fits the best. However, on most of my favorite lenses, I use Op-Tech Hood Hats. They're neoprene covers that fit over the lens hoods and don't have to fit as exactly as a regular lens cap would.

there's a review for that by guess who -

Description:
I absolutely love OpTech's Hood Hats for my lenses. For convenience, I always leave the hoods on my lenses, making it very difficult to attach/detach the lens caps. These neoprene Hood Hats go over the hoods, eliminating the need for the caps; and gives very good protection from scratches, nicks on the hoods. I also have used their straps on every camera I've owned! The Hood Hats slip on/off easily, and can be folded up to put in a pocket, while camera is in use.

This is a Montana company that makes their products on site. Nice to pickup the phone & get a "live" person to discuss something with immediately, without hitting several numbers to get to a rep.

I tried the hood hats and found that they contributed to much more dust on my lens than the pinch caps. They're also bulkier to slip into a pocket than a simple pinch cap.

I've used the Hood Hats on all my lens, with or with the hood on, for several years. I've seen no dust from using them.
