Holster for KP/55-300PLM/Battery Grip?

Howdy-

Can anyone recommend a holster for this combination? I'd like to keep it in a case, ready to go. My old Lowepro case is great for just body and standard size lens, but too small for this combo.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Thanks, that's the key word I was searching for, "holster." Think I'll change my post title. That Think Tank one is along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Check out my review of the Think Tank Digital Holster 20 v2.0

I bought this used for $30 CAD at least 7 years ago, and it still looks like new. Think Tank has an excellent reputation for building really good stuff. Barring a major disaster, I expect the one I have to last another 10+ years of regular use.

I currently use the extendable part to hold a few filters, but there is enough room to put a medium prime lens there, add a foam spacer, and a Pentax DSLR with the 55 - 300 mm lens. There are also a few smaller pockets for batteries, keys, or a cell phone.

I have a Lowepro toploader 70 which takes my K1 & battery grip with a Pentax 18-135mm fitted. There is
room to fit a longer lens if required. Internal depth is 9 inches (approx 230mm).

Yeah the 55-300 collapsed is a pretty small lens, so pretty much anything will do. This isn’t strictly a holster, but I really love carrying a smaller camera setup in it. Everyday Sling | Peak Design Official Site

If you are hiking a lot with a camera, I have found the Cotton Skout system to be very comfortable and very stable/safe even on rough trails. Camera stays tight to body core yet is instantly available. This after 1 camera and 2 PLMs have been destroyed while using neck straps in falls.

My KP + grip + 55-300 PLM will fit in my Lowepro Toploader Zoom 50 AW, but it's a tight fit (due solely to the grip, the lens is tiny). The newer "II" version of that bag looks to be slightly larger and would likely be a better fit.

Hey Biff, Simon here from thinkTank, if you have any questions on the holsters, feel free to get in touch, but I reckon everyone has you sorted out here. Cheers!

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. Looks like the LowePro TLZ 50 and ProTactic 70; Think Tank 40; and Ruggard 65 may all work. Still reviewing. Interesting, of all the descriptions I've read, only Ruggard explicitly states in the description that it will fit a body with a grip. Others you kind of have to search search more. Anymore ideas are welcome. I'll let you all know what I end up ordering. I like the Skout sytem maybe for scrambling, as an addition, but first I have to find the primary holster for the combo. Toploader 70 appears discontinued.

I picked up my toploader 70 on e-bay. There are always a few for sale when I
have a browse for camera kit.

The Think Tank Digital Holster 20 v2.0 might be a tight fit for your camera body with grip, but I am sure stepping up to the next higher model would do the trick. Think Tank makes very good stuff, and if you get a chance to have a hands on look at things, I doubt you would be disappointed.

Thanks. Think Tank no doubt makes a great product, but the 40 is the next size that appears to fit but I think it will be way too big for the KP body. I don't mind a little extra space, but it just looks too roomy. Narrows it to the LowePro 50 or Ruggard, unless I find the Lowepro 70 somewhere.

Holster Case for KP/55-300PLM/Battery Grip?

Hey folks-

Can anyone recommend a holster for this combination? Ruggard, LowePro, other? I haven't found one that looks like it will fit well, other than maybe the Ruggard 65 or LowerPro 50.

I posted this question in the Field Accessories thread. Guess that's a cross post.

Thanks for any suggestions.

@gtvone any thoughts on the above logic? Is there a better fit available from think tank?
