using dumb radio flash trigger as camera remote trigger??

curious if anyone has tried using basic/dumb radio triggers to remotely fire the camera?

as in a pc socket from radio receiver to a mono jack input of the camera body?

the triggers i have are wansen radio triggers which seem to be rebadged cowboy studio and the like

i do use cactus v6 to fire my cameras remotely and never thought twice about using the mono jack to mono jack deal which i reckon is basically a pc sync port on the cactus v6

seems i could do the same with the basic radio triggers but figured i'd ask before diving right in it......
kinda like the idea of using the simple radio triggers as their profile is much smaller and their are no contacts on the receiver foot

have seen some neewer riggers that are similar radio triggers that will do both flash and camera remote

thanks

Isn't that exactly what the cactus is doing? Seems like it ought to work.

I've used a pair of cactus V5 triggers, they are real basic "Dumb" triggers.

I have some cheap radio triggers from neewer. They can trigger the camera when connected to the remote/cable release connection of the camera.

Yongnuo RF603N II work nicely for this task, but require a separate 2.5mm release cable:

This funktion is advertised for them, yes - there is a switch on the triggers to select flash or camera operation as well (as stevebrot pointed out, a release cable with a 2.5 mm jack is required to connect trigger and camera)

Those cameras using the CS-205 will work with the cable included with the Yongnuo RF603C II (i.e. Canon version). Worked with my K-10D.

So true.

However, the Canon version of the RF603 II is a bit problematic due to contact interference while the Nikon version has the accidental benefit of supporting the "ready" contact on both the shoe and foot for both wakeup and flash ready support. The same is true of the Nikon flavor of the YN560-TXII controller.
