LensCoat lens cover

LensCoat lens cover for my 70-200 f2.8 is beautiful, however; now I can't get the foot to close, because of the "bulk". Any suggestions, short of cutting the cover so that the foot will rest once again, on the "bare" lens?

What do you mean by “foot to close”, could you show a photo?

Just what I said, the foot will not close now, because of the added bulk of the cover.

I’m not familiar with that lens, The 60-250 has a different style where the collar is fixed as part of the lens. I had assumed the 70-200 was similar. That’s a really interesting problem. Is that The DFA Pentax or a third party lens?

Trim away the "cover" area under the foot.

Yes, I'm thinking that's the only alternative I have.

You might be able to cut a hole where the foot is and stretch the cover over the tripod ring.

Doubtful, as the cover fits very tight, as it is. Don't want to start cutting, unless I'm absolutely sure, as these covers are not cheap!

I would put the foot on first, then a hole or slot for the foot. I would be afraid of the foot over the cover anyway, you would lose the integrity of the foot. I’m somewhat surprised that lenscoat did not allow for that, they have been making covers for a long time.

I don't think the LensCover has enough stretch to go over the ring of the foot. It's very tight fitting on the lens itself.

Just cut the cover, but leave it as a complete circle; then you will have 2 smaller sections- should you ever want to use it without the foot.

Lenscoat could not anticipate use of an aftermarket foot or its possible size or location. JMHO.

Don, thanks; I think this is the only alternative; and it will still look very nice. The cover is awesome; I really like it, once I get the foot on.

Probably could, but that would mean a trip to town. Easier to cut it and leave the strip cut out, in a circle; that I could always put back in place, if I decided not to use the foot, for some reason.
