Li109 batterry discontinued?

B&H and at least one other vendor list the Pentax Li109 as DISCONTINUED although Adorama has it available. Is this a "business" problem with Pentax and certain vendors? It is difficult to believe Pentax would discontinue a battery for an active camera model.

On Ricoh site it is still exists (as expected) https://us.ricoh-imaging.com/product/rechargeable-li-ion-battery-d-li109/
But I do not see "BUY" button there.

It is just how some vendors handle uncertain delivery times on products. When they run out of stock and can not get a confirmed delivery date they set the item as discontinued.

Yes, B&H seems to often flag out-of-stock items as discontinued.

I see them currently listing a current but out of stock computer case as pre-order. They can be weird at times.

B&H has done this many times when they were out of stock with batteries.

Plenty of good 3rd party replacement batteries are available. I have a ton of them, most of which are perfectly good and seem to last a long time.

This same thing happened a few months ago, but the battery came back and was not actually discontinued!

Thinking it through

It’s unfortunate that B&H would post information that is misleading and damaging to the Pentax brand. Rest assured, if Pentax was going to move away from the Li90 battery, it would be reported in every trade rag. This battery powers the lead camera’s in all three of the Pentax DSLR product segments. Bare in mind the only difference between the D-Li90 and the D-Li90E is that the D-Li90E complies with EU RoHs requirements. The batteries are functionally the same. Well I guess “Functionally the same” might be a bit of an over statement. Since the D-Li90E is constructed using lead free solder, the life cycle durability will be shorter. It is not a trivial task moving from leaded to lead free manufacturing. There are definite design issues that take any company some years to overcome.

And on the new European site pentax.eu there are no batteries at all available for DSLR's... nor chargers.
But plenty of hoods, caps, focus screens, straps, eye pieces, grips, flash sockets,....most in stock.
But I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that the future camera’s don’t need one, the new site has more smaller inconsistencies... it seems to gradually improve.
