I just found a handy new gadget.

I'm sure that some of you may already have this, or have discovered it.

It's a Sandisk, Mobilemate, Mobile card reader for SD cards.

It's about the size of a flash drive, and comes with a 3" cord should you need one.

Just the perfect thing for me to look at my photos on my work computer or anywhere other than home.

Best buy has it for $15.99 and Circuit City for $21.00 (guess where I purchased mine?)

Anyway, just thought I'd pass this along.

Ed

So it's one of those USB adapter things for a card? We have one for XD cards in this house, very handy little things.

The Lexar Pro SD cards come with one

All of the Lexar Professional SD cards I've bought recently came with a USB reader. I think it might be a "limited time offer" so keep an eye open.

I have a few Kingston "Travelite" card readers, exactly as you described, just slightly larger than the smallest flash drives.
When I first bought my camera I got a Kingston 1GB card with a travelite reader combined for I think $15.99 on Newegg.com. Their prices fluctuate, but really I haven't found a better deal on cards, or nearly anything computer related, at their site.

just my .02.

Yep, I bought one of these a few weeks ago at Best Buy for that price. It comes in handy and is small.

BTW...I heard that all the new Sandisk cards are coming with card readers now.

If by new you mean high-capacity (4 gig, and soon to be larger), then yes. 2 GB and smaller are card only, no reader. Some of the Extreme III 2GB come with readers, but this depends on what packaging is available to you.

I get all my memory cards/readers etc from sevendayshop.com they are based in Jersey UK, Don't know if they ship outside of the UK but the readers you are talking about are £2.99 which at current exchange rates will be approx $6

It's great the cards you buy come with nifty extras! Ours have nothing in the way of extras. Just the card and the warranty. Haha.

A blank media retailer here has expanded its offerings to include various computer peripherals such as optical mice, etc. They do sell the small, handy SD reader/writer for about 80 pesos, which would amount to about $1.67. I'd buy one, but this gadget sells out pretty fast!

On a semi-related note, I've yet to see SDHC cards in the local market.
